I love an easy read. I have no qualms with sampling a wide array of literature and would even venture to say that I love an easy read. However, while People We Meet on Vacation is an easy read, I wouldn’t say that it was one that I loved.
Poppy and Alex had been friends since college when they met the first week at freshman orientation. They’ve traveled the world together, met each other’s families, and shared their secrets –well, maybe not all of their secrets. Now, they haven’t spoken in two years, not since that famous trip, but Poppy is determined to change that. While their personalities could not be more different, they share a similar love for their summer trips, trips that started as content for Poppy’s travel blogs before blossoming into her full-time work. Now, Poppy is set on repairing their lost friendship with one last trip, before it’s too late.
I’ll be honest, I felt the book was fine, but it didn’t really grab my interest past that. I’ve read some of Emily Henry’s other books (Book Lovers and Happy Place) which I did really enjoy, I just felt a bit uninterested in the characters, the conflict, and the story the whole way through. It definitely scratches a best-friends-turn-lovers itch, but that was pretty much all I got out of it.
If you’ve read this book and liked it, I’d love to know what hooked you to the story because I usually do enjoy these reads. Again, I’ve really enjoyed some of her other books so was disappointed that this one fell a bit flat.

Bonus content: I found myself annoyed the whole way through because I didn’t (and still don’t) think the title actually reflects the story. If you’ve read this and believe the title does match the book, please do tell me why and put me out of my misery.
